Your Character
When you start the game you will be able to choose your username and your character model.
Creating Your Account With Mobage
After you complete the Tutorial, you will be able to create or sign into a Mobage account. This account will ensure that your data can be recovered on another device. You will need a valid email to link to this account.
Choosing Your Outfit
To change your outfit, tap the “More” menu at the bottom of the screen and select “Wardrobe”. There, you can select from the clothes and hairstyles you own.
Buying New Clothes and Accessories
Tap the “Shop” button on the Wardrobe screen to visit the Clothing Store. To try on an article of clothing, select it from the Menu on the right. To buy an article of clothing, tap the “Purchase” button.
You can try on multiple articles of clothing at once. The total cost of all the unpurchased clothing you have on is listed under “Total Outfit Cost”. To buy all the items you have on, tap “Buy”.
To leave the Wardrobe screen, tap “Back” at the top left.
Investigating Locations
Nearby locations will appear on the isometric map. To visit them, tap the location onscreen.
If there are Fiends to Hunt at a location, the Fiend will be visible outside. If there is a Rift, a blue glow will be visible at the location. If there is another Hunter at a location, they will be listed in the location popup.
There is a special bonus for clearing every Hunt and Rift on a map. To get a new map, tap the “Rescan” button at the top right of the screen.
Special Locations
Some locations, such as your Haven and mission locations, will always appear on the map. They can be found at the top, bottom, far left or far right of the map. Special locations have a yellow icon floating above them.
Hunting Fiends
Kill Fiends in a location to take bake the city, get XP and Cash and increase your Hunting Skill.
Fiends will appear at locations on the isometric map. Different groups of Fiends will have different difficulty ratings. There are three Hunt options available: Recon, Hunt and Assault. These vary in difficulty as well as in Energy cost.
How to Hunt Fiends
- Fights are real-time and turn-based; you get limited time to choose your attack every turn.
- Six Attack Areas will appear at the bottom of the screen when it is your turn to attack.
- Choose and tap on an Attack Area to use that weapon. Tap one before they disappear!
- The Attack Areas are based on the weapons you own in your inventory.
Hunters, Fiends & Allies
Any Hired Allies or other Hunters in that location will assist you in your Hunt. On occasion, some of your Friends my randomly appear to help you during your Hunt as well.
Rifts
Close Rifts at locations to beat back the darkness and gather Aethyr, as well as increase your Rifting Skill.
Rifting is one of the mini-games in Shadow Wars. Rifts will appear at locations on your map, indicated by a blue haze. Rifts range from Easy to Dangerous, and vary in Energy Cost as well.
To begin the Rifting minigame, tap “Seal Rift” at a location.
How to Seal a Rift:
Hold down on one of the glowing points to seal the Rift and gather Aethyr.
You have a limited amount of time to seal as many points as you can.
Beware of the red glowing spirits. They will move towards you as you try to seal the Rift. If you’re caught the Rift may not be closed, and you’ll lose some of what you’ve found.
The Market
Manage your Weapons, Armour, Support Items, Tactical Items and Banking in the Market.
Weapons and Armour:
- Buy, upgrade and repair your Weapons and Armour.
- Unlock more Weapons and Armor as you level up.
Support:
- Buy and use Health Potions, Energy Infusions and Stamina Pills.
Tactical:
- Buy and sell Gold Bars or Aethyr Crystals to store your cash and Aethyr.
- Buy Scrolls to increase your Skill XP gain.
- Buy Battle items to increase your Attack or Defense while Battling other Hunters.
Banking
- Use Moba Coins to buy Elder Gems and access premium content in Shadow Wars.
- Buy extra Cash and Aethyr to increase your supply.
Havens
Create or Join Havens with Other Hunters
Havens are groups of Hunters who have banded together to fight the apocalypse. Unlocking Haven upgrades will provide various Battle, Hunt or Weapon Bonuses.
You can join or create a Haven once you have reached Level 12.
To Find Existing Havens:
- Access the Haven menu from the “More” button.
- Choose from a list of nearby Havens by tapping “Nearby”.
- Search for a particular Haven by name.
- Tap on an invitation from another Hunter when they appear on the News panel.
Haven Join Cost
The cost to join a Haven is determined by number of members and Haven level. If you resign from your Haven, you need to play the entry fee again to return or to join another Haven.
If you join a Haven by invitation, the cost will be significantly lowered.
Haven Level
Upgrading your Haven will unlock more upgrades and bonuses and will allow more members to join. You can donate Cash and Aethyr towards upgrades on the Manage Haven screen.
Haven Invites
Existing members can invite other Hunters into their Haven for a reduced cost. To send an invite, go to another Hunter’s Profile and tap the blue icon with a Haven image. When you receive an invite, it will appear on the News screen. Tap on the news to accept the invite and join the Haven.
Missions
Missions are sets of objectives assigned to you and can be completed for significant rewards. Story Missions are special Missions that advance the story of Shadow Wars.
Tap the Missions button on the Main screen to review instructions, locations, rewards and other details about ongoing Missions at any time.
Chat
Chatting allows you to communicate with other Hunters around the world. Chat channels are provided to allow you to talk with other survivors in Shadow Wars.
The Global Chat channel costs one Chat Token per post. The Haven Chat Channel button on the bottom will allow you to move to a private Safehouse Chat. Haven Chat is FREE and does not cost Chat Tokens.
Battles
Battle other Hunters to get Cash and Aethyr, as well as increase your Battle Skill. Battling cost Stamina and Health. You will gain Cash, Aethyr and Battle Skill from winning, and lose Cash and Aethyr from losing a battle.
Your Battle Score is based on the combined stats of your Weapons, Armour, Battle Skill, Battle items, your distance from your opponent, and your Retaliation Bonus (if applicable). Hunters can only duel other Survivors within +/- 5 levels. Challenging tougher opponents will earn you more Battle Skill, and particularly difficult opponents will even give you Skill for losing.
Having a higher Battle score than your opponent does not guarantee victory, but does mean that your odds of winning are good. The greater the difference, the more likely it is that you will win.
Battle Support Items
Offensive Battle Items are single use items that can be used right before a Battle to tip the match in the attacker’s favor. Defensive Battle Items lasts over a period of time and provide additional protection against would-be-aggressors.
Friends
You can add Friends with Friend Codes.
Once they become your Friends, you will not be able to Battle them and they may randomly join and assist you during Hunts. They will also appear on your isometric map and can be Healed.
Healing
Heal your Friends and Haven members to replenish their Health and increase your Healer Skill.
To Heal your Friends or your Haven members, simply tap on them in chat or on the map to see their profile and tap the red Heal button. You can refer to their Health to find out if they need Healing. Healing another Hunter costs Stamina.
Stamina and Energy Skills
Using Energy Infusions and Stamina Pills will increase your Energy Skill and Stamina Skill. Over time, these Skills will increase your maximum Energy and Stamina.
Hardcore Mode
Hunters who progress beyond Level 31 will enter Hardcore Mode. In Hardcode Mode there is no level cap on Skills or Level. However, any Hardcore Hunter can Duel any other Hardcore Hunter, regardless of level.
